How to Measure?
Here's a step-by-step guide for measuring your shoulder width and three main body measurements (bust, waist, and hips):
Measuring Shoulder Width:
- Stand up straight with your back against a wall or in front of a mirror.
- Have a measuring tape ready or ask someone to assist you with the measurement.
- Locate the two bony points at the top of your shoulders, known as the acromion processes.
- Have the person helping you measure from the outer edge of one acromion process, over the top of your shoulder, to the outer edge of the other acromion process.
- Record the measurement in inches or centimeters.
Measuring Bust:
- Wear a non-padded bra or measure over your clothes to get an accurate bust measurement.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, usually at the level of your nipples.
- Make sure the tape is level and not too tight or too loose.
- Take the measurement and record it.
Measuring Waist:
- Locate your natural waistline, which is the narrowest part of your torso, typically just above your belly button.
- Breathe out to relax your stomach muscles, but don't suck in your breath.
- Wrap the measuring tape around your waist at this level.
- Ensure the tape is snug but not tight, and record the measurement.
Measuring Hips:
- Stand with your feet together.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips, usually around the buttocks.
- Make sure the tape is level across your hips and not twisted.
- Take the measurement and record it.
Note: For all measurements, it's important to replicate the fit of the clothing you're planning to wear. For example, if you're measuring for a tight-fitting dress, make the measuring tape snug; for loose clothing, allow a bit more room in your measurements.
